Community for Literacy and Education in Addiction and Nutrition

CLEAN TAMU
Our Mission
The current landscape of consumerism in the USA has established very concerning trends, moving toward processed, sugary, and gluttonous foods that society embraces due to their addictive nature. Education in nutrition is decreasing steadily to accompany a surplus of fast food chains, packaged foods, and high caloric options.
Although we respect individuals’ choices in what they consume, we believe that when armed with the appropriate knowledge concerning these issues, many would opt out of some foods and behaviors for the sake of living longer, healthier, and happier lives. In no context does awareness of an issue cause more harm than ignorance does.
Our focus is not limited to food, but also encompasses alcohol and drug consumption, and the observation of the nuances and scandals of the food and drug industries.
Upcoming events
All meeting times and other events will be posted on this calendar.
General Meetings
During general meetings, CLEAN holds a variety of member-led presentations on topics related to our mission. General members are welcome to pair up and present a topic they’re interested in after reaching out to the officer team to get approval. During general meetings, we would hold workshops where we work on scientifically robust essays or magazines for public or virtual distribution.
Community Service
CLEAN will participate in a variety of volunteering activities throughout the year to give back to the community and build members’ college portfolios.
Networking
Throughout the semester, researchers and physicians will give talks about relevant topics. At the end of meetings, members are welcome to network and inquire about research or shadowing opportunities.
